Now it’s fixed – So when I received this phone in June 2022, it was a great phone. In July 2022 Samsung released a security update and broke the phone. Samsung never acknowledged that they broke the phone. Fast forward until today. I received the October patch and magically I could receive calls again. Mind you, this phone has sat in a box until today. Thought I would check if the update fixed anything, and sure enough it is working again. I guess wait for new reviews to see. I am on Mint Mobile and hopefully the phone will continue to work. Thank you Samsung for the new patch. Next time acknowledge when you break things. Maybe don’t wait 3 months to fix it.

July 1, 2022 security update breaks this phone – all incoming calls go straight to voicemail – All calls go straight to voicemail after security updates were applied (T-Mobile). Unless you know how to roll back the firmware to something before July 1st, 2022 then don’t buy this phone. I bought 2 of these phones and both stopped working after July security update was applied. T-Mobile stores/techs could not fix it. Samsung recommend repair shop would not touch it because it’s not the US version. Had to force load firmware on it myself as built in factory reset does not reset the security updates. So be worned….other than that, phone works great now as long as you don’t allow the mentioned update to be applied.

US Mobile Phone Carrier Problems – Once I got the phone it was working good on AT&T but after about a month AT&T the phone stopped working due to model number is not on AT&T list of phones it supports in 5G upgrade which has been very painful to many of AT&T customers. This even after extensive tries by an AT&T retail store clerk whom tried very hard with phone center customer service.

Doesn’t work with T-Mobile – It’s a great phone but sadly, it just doesn’t work well with domestic US T-Mobile service. It was initially able to receive calls and texts, but after a software update, it would not receive phone calls, and texts are spotty. Spent hours with T-Mobile tech support to no avail and tried ourselves everything in the book with no results. Great phone in principle, but useless for us now and can’t return it.

Phone is just meh – I did not have too high of expectations given the price, but figured it can’t be that bad. For general use this is a great bargain. Screen is bright and everything works well through a variety of scenarios. My biggest gripe is the camera’s performance (speed, not quality) when comparing to Apple’s & Pixel’s. If you have kids, pets etc. where you wish to capture the moment this may be a LARGE source of frustration. It’s to the point for me where I only use the phone for still images, and chase the kids around with a dedicated camera to document memories. Phone performance when taxed (wireless android auto, etc.) makes it easy to tell this isn’t a flagship chip under the hood, though it still gets the task done. For all of these complaints, it is still a great everyday device with stellar battery life. Two months in and I’m still finishing day 2 with about 20% battery left (I average 4.5 hours of screen time per day, and navigate & stream music through wireless android auto for approx. 45 minutes daily). Rooting was also a breeze and nice to ditch all the bloatware and free up some resources.
